If the purpose of your website is lead generation, you’ll want to choose KPIs that track engagement with potential clients, such as form completions, phone calls, chats, downloads, and more.



  1. Add your Google Tag Manager code to your website.
  2. Make sure you are tracking important events like form completions, clicks to call, etc.
  3. Thoughtfully, pair your metrics so they aren’t in isolation (e.g., organic traffic and form completions).

Note: Make sure you don’t simply track metrics like traffic and rankings. Those can be vanity metrics that don’t contribute to the bottom line.
