Do you know what a SERP feature is?
You do. You just may not know it by name.
SERP stands for “Search Engine Results Page” and a SERP feature is one of those content boxes you see that is related to your Google search.
There are many different types of SERP features (and Google is always experimenting or adding new ones), but some of the most common are:
SERP Feature Strategies at Work
Now here is a REALLY cool strategy you can use to get more relevant traffic to your website with SERP features.
In the screenshot above for the keyword “cvs flu shot” there is a SERP feature of “People also ask.”
-
- This a branded keyword search because it contains the name “CVS”.
- Every link (outside the People Also ask boxes) on this SERP is to a CVS owned web page – understandably because that’s what someone is looking for – CVS flu shots.
- This keyword gets over 100,000 monthly searches.
BUT, as you can see above, goodrx.com owns the link and answer to the question, “How much is a flu shot at CVS?”
This is an amazing SEO strategy at work.
- GoodRx found a high volume keyword that is low funnel (people are searching by a brand and for a specific solution).
- With so much traffic to this page on a regular basis, there are likely thousands of people clicking that box and landing on that page on GoodRX’s website. Potentially changing their mind about whether or not to go CVS for their flu shot.
- This undoubtedly brings in quality traffic to their site that turns into new revenue for their business.
So, how are you going to use SERP features to get quality traffic to your website?
