Today I’m talking about how you’ll always find someone that does it cheaper.

If you’re shopping by price, you’re more likely to pay twice.
This is especially true when it comes to marketing spend.
Anyone will take your money and “do SEO” or “do social media”… you get the idea.
What you need to focus on is value for your money.
Here is a list of questions you should ask before investing in SEO and content:
- Do I understand what I want?
Are you excited to see your traffic go up or the number of rankings go up? If so, you don’t understand what you want. These things happen when you work on SEO, but these are not success metrics for most websites. - Do I care about good communication and expectation setting?
No one has all the answers to your SEO questions, especially early on. Make sure you understand that and that it’s communicated to you. Ask yourself what you expect to happen before you ask your SEO partner, then tell them. A good SEO partner will be honest about setting realistic expectations. - What price is too much?
What can you actually afford if you put everything into SEO? This doesn’t mean you should put it all into that one channel. And this isn’t what you want to spend. Answer that, then see if your SEO partner can help you connect the dots between SEO spend and value. - Am I ready?
Is there any evidence that SEO is valuable to your business? Before spending money on SEO you should try to prove to yourself/others that regardless of price, communication, or your current understanding of SEO, if done well, SEO can be valuable.
