Today I’m talking about how Burger King lets McDonald’s pay for their market research.
Burger King doesn’t invest in any new location research.
They pay close attention to where McDonald’s is putting up a new location and then buy property nearby.
They let McDonald’s spend a bunch of money on market research, trying to figure out where they should be building their next location, and Burger King benefits from it.
The Burger King Strategy For Your Business
It’s possible for you to implement a similar strategy online.
Somewhere out there exists a website (more likely many websites) that has developed a strategy that is helping them grow their business.
And you can find where they are putting up valuable online real estate (just like Burger King does).
The search engine results page is that valuable real estate and your business can own some of it if you know how to audit it and take action.
With the right tools and talent, you can develop an evidence-based approach to gaining real estate, based on what others have done.
Hint: It usually means building a bigger and better website (or burger place) that offers:
- Really helpful, authoritative, and educational content.
- Well-organized content.
- Trust signals from other sites and users online.
