Let’s Talk About Consistency
What's the secret to marketing success? How do you make sure you're doing the right things consistently? Here's some advice from a fellow entrepreneur!

Today I’m talking about consistency.
There is no secret to marketing success.
No silver bullet.
No fast pass.
Just hard, smart work.
If you want meaningful results, you need to put in the work day in and day out for weeks, months, years, and even decades.
But there is tension between time and results.
- Go a long period of time without results and you’ll want to give up (and sometimes you should change course, but other times you’re on the right track).
- Get good results in a quick amount of time and you’ll be frustrated when it doesn’t happen consistently (quick wins can happen, but they are less common than long, slow wins).
The concern I’ve always had as an entrepreneur is not whether or not consistency over time will actually yield results…
It’s whether or not I’m doing the right things consistently to get the results I’m looking for.
So, how do you make sure you’re doing the right things consistently?
1. Talk to an Expert
Frodo had Gandalf.
Luke had Obi-Wan.
Harry had Dumbledore.
So, talk to an old wise man with a gray beard 😄
But seriously, you need to talk to someone that has made a similar journey or is a bit further down the road in their journey.
They can’t guarantee your success, but they can help you think through what you should be focusing on consistently and how to measure whether or not you’ll get the results you desire over time.
2. Clearly Define Your Desired Results
In the SEO world, I consistently hear “we want more traffic,” “we want more rankings” or “we want more leads.”
But those results alone almost NEVER offer fulfillment.
It’s an outcome that you want and your hope is that when those things are elevated, you will get more of that outcome.
So define what you want in life/business (more time, more money, etc.). Then work backward and ask what metric(s) will positively influence that outcome.
