However, I know some people have serious challenges navigating marketing campaign materials and websites. This is especially true for people with vision, hearing, or dexterity issues—according to Forbes, only about 3% of websites are accessible to those groups.

You might not think having an accessible website is a big deal. But how many people are you not reaching because of that? And how much revenue are you missing out on?

Short answer: Too much. To the tune of potentially missing out on $100 for every $1 you invest.

Your Campaign and Your Website Need to Be Accessible

But how can you make your website and your next marketing campaign accessible to as many people as possible? Here are a few tips our web design team likes to follow whenever they can:

• Add alt text: This is also a great practice for SEO by extension.

• Underlining hyperlinks: People who have colorblindness or other issues with contrast can navigate more easily with this.

• Structure your content: We prefer doing this because it makes your site easier for everyone to read.

• Provide transcripts for video content: Deaf or Hard of Hearing users can better engage with your content this way.

• Make your website accessible to screen readers: Visually impaired users rely on screen readers like JAWS to peruse your website, so this allows them to more easily convert into leads.

And that’s just the first few that came to mind for me. There are plenty of ways to make your website, your marketing materials, and your brand more accessible overall. While it takes a bit more effort, going that extra mile will help you reach more people in your target audience.
