I don’t say this often, but you’re probably going to LOVE this, even if you aren’t an SEO nerd.
A new Google feature was recently released on mobile search. (If you have kids, you’re going to want to show them this one!)
On your mobile device, go to Google and type in an animal. Let’s say, “hedgehog.”
Click the button that says, “View in 3D” (shown below) and be prepared to be amazed…

I had some fun with this one last night. Here’s a picture of a velociraptor eyeballing my dog and wife, Rayanne, while they are laying in a hammock in our backyard.
Augmented Reality (AR) has been around for a while, but it hasn’t made its way into search engines quite like this before.
So What Does This Mean For You?
Well, a lot of things, actually.
Knowing that Google is constantly improving its search engine results page features and wants to offer an even more useful, educational, and interactive experience should get you thinking and asking questions like:
- how can I use technology like this in my business?
- what other features am I not aware of that could help me help my audience?
- if Google is going to be integrating technology like AR into search, what else will they do?
Think about the implications of features like this on education.
The majority of creatures I’ve tested in 3D AR have been to scale. Students around the world that are now forced to learn from home can now, quite literally, walk with the dinosaurs.
I wish this was around when I was in elementary school.
Google is consistently innovating its search engine to offer an incredible experience to its users at their time of need. What are you doing to work with Google to do the same for your customers?
