A $7.5 Billion Joke: Bing
Nobody says to "Just Bing it." Although Bing only makes up 2.8% of search engine market share, it's worth more than Twitter and Snapchat combined!

“Just Bing It!”
Wait… no one ever says that.
Bing is kind of a joke when it comes to the search engine market. I mean, look at the stats below. Google owns 92% of the Worldwide search engine market compared to less than 3% for Bing.
A $7.5 Billion Joke…
$7.5 Billion (with a capital B) is how much Microsoft’s Bing generated in 2019 from search advertising.
To put that kind of revenue in perspective, it’s more than Snapchat and Twitter made combined in 2019 revenue:
We joke about it and often overlook it, but Bing is kind of important.
But, what I think is more important is the context this provides to just how important search actually is.
According to SparkToro, only 4.32% of Google Desktop searches result in a paid click (which likely isn’t too different than Bing and that’s where all that Bing Money is coming from).
So that means that the money being made by Bing and Google is only being made 1 out of every 25 searches.
The Takeaway
There are roughly 5.6 Billion (with a capital B) searches made daily in Google, but it’s not the only search engine that matters, because it’s such a HUGE market.
- Make sure you submit your sitemap to Bing Webmaster Tools
- If you’re a local business, you can sync your Google My Business to your Bing Local listing.
- Care more about search engine marketing. It’s HUGE and it’s not going anywhere.
And here’s another, but different, Bing joke:
“Could you BE getting any more search traffic!?”
