What are Underperforming SEO Pages?
👉 Pages that aren’t getting any or very little organic traffic and conversions.
But, if you’ve got these pages, there may be a chance that you are just a few tweaks from getting them to rank and roll in the revenue.
Identify Your Under-performers
- Go to Google Search Console.
- Export the last 6 months of data to a Google Sheet (easy to do right in Google Search Console).
- Filter your sheet by pages you’ve published 3+ months ago.
- Sort those pages by the highest impressions (pages that get loaded and viewed on screens in search results).
Now you’ve got a list of underperforming pages that may need a little TLC. 💪
Update the Under-performers
Check each page one by one to make sure that the main keyword you want to rank for is in:
⮑ The H1 of the page
⮑ At least one of the H2s
⮑ Introduction of the page.
⮑ Meta Description of the page.
If they don’t have keywords, add them. But please, do it in a way that doesn’t feel gross and like it was written for SEO. Yes, this can be tricky, but it’s important to search engines and the user’s experience.
Is That It?
Yes, that’s it… for now. That may be all you need to get a little better visibility, but unfortunately, it’s not always that simple.
You may have technical issues, thin content, a lack of internal links, or something else.
And I don’t say this to discourage you. I say this to challenge you.
If you want to improve, never give up poking and prodding for ways to turn under-performers into performers.
Even Michael Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team. He clearly made some adjustments.
