What to Add to Every Blog Post You Upload

Let’s look at this from two different approaches.

First, there’s the front-end basics. These are the things that the average website visitor will be able to see when they find your blog post with the naked eye (or a screen reader).

Then, there’s the back-end essentials. You might not be able to see these elements directly. However, they make it easier for people to use your site, for Google to understand it, and for you to measure its performance later.

We recommend having all of these as a minimum.

Front-End Basics

• Content that addresses the topic people are searching for
• Answers and information relevant to the topic and any related subtopics in the text itself
• A title that accurately reflects the content (because nobody likes clickbait)
• A call-to-action that drives visitors to take the next step
• Keywords that are organically folded into your content like sprinkles in Funfetti cake batter
• Captions on any videos
• Descriptive text on images for screen readers

Back-End Essentials

• Advanced planning and strategies for the subjects you’re blogging about
• A metric-tracking code
• A meta-description
• Subtopics appropriately separated as H1, H2, and H3 tags
• Internal links that work
• A metric-tracking code
• Alt text on any images
• Code that allows Google to easily crawl your website
• A metric-tracking code

• Schema markup baked into the code of the blog post, if you’re feeling spicy
