An SEO audit is an evaluation of your website that assesses your site’s ability and opportunity to appear in the search engine results page(s).
I like to think of them like comprehensive vehicle inspections.
Your neighborhood mechanic can get into your vehicle to check everything out. Maybe replace a filter, provide an oil change, tighten a few loose nuts, etc.
But he is also going to let you know that your transmission may be going out (even if he isn’t the guy that can fix it).
Likewise, an SEO audit is done by a professional that can fix what’s broken, but also provide direction on what ongoing improvements to make and let you know a few things outside of their skillset that should be addressed.

How To Perform The Audit
Send this to your SEO specialist and have them go through each list for your site, checking off the items as you address them.
Have them add notes/comments inline to any tasks about what they did or what should be done, if it cannot be addressed by them.
Have them add screenshots for more context and proof that the items were addressed.
Keep the document as a record. Share it with your team, your boss, and then sit back and order a pizza – that’s just what I like to do after a good audit. You don’t have to, but why wouldn’t you? It’s pizza.
