🌱 Text Messaging: A New Way to Connect with Your Customers

Hi there,

The other day I got a text message from my lawn care company.

It was simply a reminder about the upcoming service for fall fertilizer.

I’ve received their reminder texts all year. I like getting them as it shows me that they are fulfilling their commitments.

But what I love even more is that they are opening up a direct channel to communicate with me that is unarguably the most effective: text messaging.

90% of text messages are opened within 3 minutes of being received.

Because they’ve warmed me up to that communication method, I now:

1. Text them questions about other services.
2. Would be completely open to them telling me about other services via text (they don’t yet, and I think that’s a missed opportunity).

Quick Tip: Use transactional communication channels (i.e. service reminders) as a “trojan horse” to sending promotional communications. Just don’t overdo it with the sales pitch.

This section of their website helps visitors understand how to engage and how easy it is. Your customers don’t want to think and want clarity. Don’t just tell them to request services, tell them what happens from start to finish, simply.

• Start sending text message service reminders to your customers. Here’s a tool you can use.
• Make it incredibly easy to answer the core customer question, “Can you help ME?” Do this with a great website experience that organizes services and locations well.
• Remove the mystery of how to engage with your services and give some great bullet point reasons why to start engaging.
