Our Volunteer Experience

It has become an annual tradition for our team to volunteer at one of Kids’ Food Basket distribution centers during our company retreat. Every year, we package sack lunches or prep the items that go inside them. This time around, we split into teams to scoop beans and cheese into burritos that families can heat up at home.

Why We Volunteer

Kids’ Food Basket counts on volunteers to get good food to families across West Michigan, and that is reason enough to show up. Food insecurity is one of the causes our team rallies behind, so a morning on the burrito line fits right into our community engagement efforts. It also happens to be one of the days everyone looks forward to most. Stepping away from our laptops to put in a few hours for families right down the road is time we are glad to give.

About Kids’ Food Basket

Kids’ Food Basket believes healthy food is a right and not a privilege. Their mission is to provide food and nutrition education to families across four counties in West Michigan: Kent, Ottawa, Allegan, and Muskegon. At their farms, families grow their own food, learn what healthy eating looks like, and become responsible members of their community. You can help by donating, volunteering, attending events, and advocating against food insecurity.
